WELCOME to the other side . . .

alice_through_the_looking_glass

We curtsy. We bow. We welcome you humbly to our clubhouse on LookingGlassLane.

You’ve all been so patient and supportive already that it’s such a pleasure to show you around. We’re still a work-in-progress, so pardon all the clanging in the background. That’s the girls with their saws, hammers, and of course, lassos.

And WHAT do we do here at the Lane? So many of you have been asking. That’s easy. We like to DO impossible things. And we like to get other people DOING impossible things. So we built a clubhouse like Alice’s on the other side of Looking Glass:

Alice laughed, “There’s no use trying,” she said, one can’t believe impossible things.”

“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

“That’s the effect of living backwards,” the Queen said kindly: “it always makes one a little giddy at first—–”

See? Easy. But you should know, this is not a pop-your-head-in-and-see-what-others-are-doing clubhouse. If you try, we’ll grab you. Leigh’s fast on the lasso. And we’ll push you past your comfort zone toward all your impossible things. You know, those things that your six-year-old self used to boldly declare you were going to do? Those things.

And we’ll make you say them out loud.

Do it now. We dare you. Say them here. Out loud.

A huge thank-you shout out to Rajesh Pancholi of R27 Creative Lab for the amazing site design.

Also an enormously smothering hug to all the girls (and guys) who have already jumped down the rabbit hole, even before the clubhouse was here to catch them. We can’t wait to play with you more and get in some serious trouble with you.

Love the quote. One should strive to believe impossible things daily. It brightens and broadens the mind and the spirt.

    Cheers to the new site.

Seriously. I mean, c’mon now… how could we have ALL used the same quote in a 24 hour period. Get out of my head!!! I’m all over the place because it’s late and I’m lightheaded from blowing up too many red balloons.

@r27, you are a rock star. And waaaay toooo good to us.

We’re getting really good at this “doing-what-we’ve-never-done-before-thing” don’t ya think? Sweaty palms are a sign that you’re in the right place. Nothing one deep breath and some clasping hands of girl friends won’t cure. ;)

    Love you girls!!!

My excitement for the opening of the club-house leaves me speechless.

Well, almost. I DO have a quote from Alice to share…

    Caterpillar: Who are YOU?

Alice: I — I hardly know, sir, just at present — at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.

Get ready, ladies to be changed back into all those things you dreamed you were when you were six years old. Together here at Looking Glass Lane we are going to become woman who SEEK and SEIZE impossible things.

    Love you all!

    Rock on!

Ok here’s my “impossible” thing. I actually made a video vision statement of all the things I wanted to do, back in 2007, as though I were already doing them, and lo and behold almost every part of it has come true except the living in Florence part. That will happen too. Ok this is REALLY cheesy but here:

    Tina,

Just watched your video. I LOVE it. Not cheesy. At ALL. So glad you shared it with us all. That’s what LookingGlassLane is for, a place to say it and let us help you to GET it. Big grin. My wheels are-a-spinning! We just have to find a Florentine sponsor. Morgan, I think we should look into this. Stat.

You are my new hero and welcome to The Lane, Tango Tina. Awesome stuff. When you put your dreams in front of you stare them down, believe me, they happen. No doubt you’ll get to Firenze as well.

Thanks for being here with us.

In case I didn’t tell you personally on Twitter, I just wanted you to know how touching your support of Morgan’s wedding was. We had a great talk the night before about the amazing women we’ve met, each other included “out here.”

    Welcome to the Lane!

    Sexy Thinker-
I do believe you are a maven when it comes to inspiring those to start getting used to the feeling of “doing-what-we’ve-never-done-before-thing”.

    Tina-
No kidding, I started making my own vision board tonight.
I was doing it the Martha Stewart way– you know, with magazines and scissors and glue, but I’ve had enough paper cuts (not use to umm,…real PAPER!)
You inspired me to take my vision board digital. I will surely let all know when it is finished.

I am so happy you are here- and as I’ve mentioned to my pal’s at the Looking Glass a few times, but a trip to Italy for all of us is definitely in order.

    Muah! Baci!

And Yes, I must just tell the world AGAIN how humbled I was by you sending your wedding dress to me (and that football for Lucca- so awesome).

I want another wedding– maybe one every year so I can where your dress in honor of how magical twitter friendships and women supporting women can be!

    Wohoo! Great clubhouse, ladies!

Yup. I also believe dreams can be reached by doing things honestly and passionately…. if you can surround yourself with the right resources…. with the right tools…. and a good support system, online or otherwise.

All too often we’re surrounded by naysayers, and it’s very important to focus on how it CAN be done, by listening to those who are already doing it. Mentors.

Believing you can, despite what others say, means you *can* do what seemed impossible! I have. Friends have. Go girls!
