I’m Just A Girl

by Ria
We’re rolling out the red carpet for our first Alice… @jrporter, Jenn Porter, “I’m just a girl” from Illinois. Pull up a chair. Would you like some tea? I was already proud of Jenn for jumping down the rabbit hole, without much of a guarantee of what she’d find on the other side. But I knew she deserved a personal invitation to the lane when I read her post that starts with, “I’m not usually one to step much out of my comfort zone….”
Yes! This is what Looking Glass Lane is all about… right, girlies? Let’s all step outside of our comfort zones for a bit. It’s okay. It’s safe here in the clubhouse and we’re all cheering for ya! That’s what allows us tap into the adventurous spirit that exists in each of us.
So… Jenn applied for Redeye’s contest for Chicago’s best home chef! How cool is that?! And even though she was not selected, what did she learn? That she had nothing to lose and that it could be fun doing something she loves: cooking! That’s my girl!
Someone I know says, “Do something scary every day” because every time you overcome a fear, big or small, you get to claim your power. Eventually things that once seemed impossible, are now possible.
Let’s raise some teacups to jrporter, shall we? And to IMPOSSIBLE THINGS!

Awesome!! Kudos to Jenn for stepping out of her comfort zone and kudos to you for sharing that great quote at the end, love it!!

Just popped over to your site and have to say I LOVE the design. Beautiful. Fantastic, heart-felt writing and hope to see you around the clubhouse more often.
Best,

We love how you are willing to contribute, engage, and within this community of believers in impossible things!

Nikki,
I’m so pleased to see everyone rallying around when someone steps out. It becomes less and less scary when we do. Of course, that just means we’ll have to raise the bar and continue to scare ourselves!
Thanks for pushing Jenn,
Jen

Jenn, a.k.a. @JRPorter…you are the epitome of jump for joy! I’m so happy you are our first Alice, so encouraging and supportive and ready to spread happiness around a wide community of facebook and twitter and the blogosphere.
I love it.
and Ria- I’m writing this in my journal (again, because I think it has graced the pages of a few journals I kept in college).
“Do something scary every day”
And what you added to it is powerful:
“because every time you overcome a fear, big or small, you get to claim your power. Eventually things that once seemed impossible, are now possible.” << that is what Looking Glass Lane is all about!

Jennnnnn!
I was joking with girls after reading your post, that I’ve been so busy building the clubhouse, that sometimes I’ve forgotten what it stands for, and on.
Your leap reminded me that I need to play and push as hard as I build.
You’re an inspiration,
Jen

I’ve had this post open all day, trying to come up with the words to express how much gratitude I feel and they just aren’t coming to me. Until I can come up with something more graceful, thank you to all of you, I am so blessed to have you in my corner!
xoxo~
