La Bella Vita

DSC01157_2

‘La bella vita’ means ‘beautiful life.’

And a big part of what ‘beautiful life’ means here on Looking Glass Lane is knowing what your biggest dreams are and going for them full out, boldly facing fears and naysayers.

Meet Katie. You may already know her as @katerinafiore. She’s our Alice this week because she knows a thing or two about having big dreams and making them happen.

Katie is fully engaged in living La Bella Vita. Less than a week ago she arrived in Italy, unpacked her bags in Florence, and went for a ride on a motorbike with a man named Marco, naturally. But Katie is not on vacation; she is home.

From her blog

I have been dating my love, Firenze, for 8 years now. I have now finally, fully committed myself to you, amore mio. I think it is about time we started talking about moving in together.

After falling in love with Italy (something a few of us here on Looking Glass Lane can *kinda* relate to ;) she set out to find a way to make it her permanent residence. And she did. You can read her story on her blog, and follow along on her journey. Be prepared to be inspired to live your own ‘La Bella Vita.’ (Something tells me this, Katie, has something to do with the way your life is turning out? So happy for you. Thanks for sharing it with us when we originally opened the clubhouse doors.

I love you as this week’s Alice for your fearlessness in jumping through the looking glass of your own dreams, and the way you are living your personal love story …And for the way you have completely cemented my belief in You Tube Vision Statements! Getting back to mine right now… ;)

Welcome to our newest Alice! Such a romantic way to live life, I love it! I must begin working on my own personal love story, so much inspiration from women out there. I believe we should all strive to live our own version of “La Bella Vita” everyday :)

    Beautiful.
Well done, for taking the plunge and going for the life you dream of and, of course inspiring @MorganDayCecil, and showing her that (Italian) dreams can come true.

    From her blog –

“I can’t help how a place called Florence, makes me feel. Words that come to mind: Confidence, Perseverance, Hope, Belonging, Compassion, Passion. Anything seems possible among the cobblestones of the valley under the brutally hot, Tuscan sun.”

Anything seems possible? Seems like this week’s Alice was destined to make an appearance.

    In (doubtlessly horribly mangled) Italian:

Un forti cuore e determinazione per una bella vita a tutti.

That reminds me of the time I used some of my (very limited) Italian at a family restaurant here in England. The proprietor nearly wept, and hugged me. He was stunned that anyone cared enough to try.

I’m just glad I’ve not been nominated as a mad hatter, or worse dormouse.

    Katie,

Way to cross borders, large bodies of water and continents for your true love. There is a reason Florence has lassoed your heart and pulls you back in. The city is magnetic and needs you to do something special among its tiled roof line and cobblestone streets. (I have a funny story to tell you about my driving round and round the Duomo.)

Way to Be who you are, 1000% which makes you a fabulous Alice! Brave, Romantic, and Well-Travelled :) Congrats on your journey. Can’t wait to hear all about it.

    Welcome, Alice!
